Shri. A. K. Saseendran, Minister for Forest and Wildlife represents Elathur constituency of Kozhikode district in the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly. As son of A. Kunhambu and M. K. Janaki, he was born on 29th January 1946 in Kannur district.
As part of his social and political career he held various positions like Kerala Students Union (KSU) Kozhikode district committee president (1963-66), KSU general secretary (1967-69); Kerala Pradesh Youth Congress committee general secretary (1969-77), vice president (1969-78) and president (1978-80), Coffee Board member (1978-80); Indo-Soviet Cultural Society (ISCUS) member (1977-81); Kerala Saksharata Samiti governing board member (1987-91 & 1992-97), Kerala State Housing Board member (1997-2001), Jawaharlal Nehru Public Library and Research Centre Kannur vice-president, Congress (U) & Indian Congress Socialist (Congress (S)) general secretary, Food Corporation of India advisory committee member, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) state general secretary, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) state vice president, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) National Committee Member, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) working committee member and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) parliamentary party leader, Kerala Legislative Assembly library advisory committee chairman.
Earlier, he served as Minister for Transport from 25-5-2016 to 27-3-2017 and from 1.2.2018 to 3.5.2021. Previously he was elected to Kerala Legislative Assembly from Peringalam (1980) , Edakkad (1982), Balussery (2006,2011) and Elathur (2016).
